Are you making these solopreneur mistakes?
Learn the strategies you've missed
Hey friend,
Ever feel stuck in the planning phase, dreaming big but not taking action? Let's break free from that cycle.
Many aspiring business owners I've encountered spend more time planning than actually doing. They come up with grand plans but rarely act upon them. And when they do, it's short-lived.
Avoid falling into that trap.
Dreaming big about your business is great, but those dreams remain mere fantasies until you take action.
Here's my 10-step roadmap to success if I were starting over as a solopreneur:
Step 1: Identify your strengths
Start by figuring out what you're naturally good at—whether it's writing, photography, cooking, or fitness. What do friends and family say you excel in? Note it down.
Step 2: Embrace your passion
Love what you do; it's key to a successful solo business. Consider your top three passions and something you could discuss endlessly. That's your sweet spot.
Step 3: Master your blend
Combine your skills and passion; work toward mastery in that field. Self-teaching is your key to success—try various learning methods and reverse-engineer the steps of successful solopreneurs.
Step 4: Share your journey publicly
Document your learning process; share it online. I did this on LinkedIn and learned a lot. Don't fear the learning curve; your audience will appreciate your authenticity.
Step 5: Attract your tribe
Consistent sharing will attract like-minded people. Don't worry if not every post is a hit; focus on what resonates, and double down on it.
Step 6: Identify pain points
Pay attention to your community's pain points. What questions do you often get? Use these insights to offer business consulting or 1:1 coaching—fastest way to start.
Step 7: Package solutions
People value convenience. Package your expertise neatly into a course. It's a game-changer, especially when they trust you.
Step 8: Sell your knowledge
Leverage your audience—build a loyal following first. Focus on their needs, provide solutions in under 2 hours, and make it an impulse buy.
Step 9: Upsell for monthly revenue
Explore options like eBooks, 1:1 coaching, additional courses, or paid community subscriptions. Get creative based on your lifestyle and customers' needs.
Step 10: Enjoy passive income
Running a digital product-centric business allows passive income. Promote your offerings for awareness initially, but as authority grows, people will trust and convert over time.
Success Stories for Inspiration
Justin Welsh: Built a $4M revenue solopreneur business with courses and coaching, focusing on what aligned with his lifestyle.
Dan Koe: Earns $27K+ monthly through Modern Mastery, a private community sharing productivity, marketing, and sales strategies.
Moral of the lesson:
Get on stage, step into the arena. Start small—publish daily on LinkedIn, Twitter, or YouTube. Embrace the discomfort; it's part of the journey. The goal is consistency, not perfection.
Remember, progress comes with acceptance. Not every piece of content needs to be perfect. Take action, love what you do, and experiment.
Your small step today will make your future self proud.
So, what's the one small step you can take today that your future self will thank you for?
Until next time,
